We've recently seen a few reports of performance issues in the virtual tabletop.
After investigation, we've traced the issue back to VPN settings that seem to be causing trouble for some users. We are actively working with NordVPN and other providers to resolve this so you can continue playing with a VPN if you so choose.
In the meantime, we recommend trying the steps below to improve VTT performance:
- Whitelist Roll20 within your VPN, and restart your VPN
- If applicable, switch "Threat Protection" to "Lite mode" or "Allow everything from app.roll20.net" (for NordVPN users) and restart your VPN
- Toggle any other settings that may be scanning files or sites and restart your VPN
- Completely close the VPN and all associated processes that might run in the background
