The Roll20 Team
Greetings to our fabulous community! I have the honor of sharing some very exciting news with you today...
Wizards of the Coast has signed a licensing deal to distribute Dungeons & Dragons content via Roll20!
This marks the first licensed collaboration between our two companies, which has been a major goal for Roll20 since our launch in 2012.
While Roll20 was designed to play nearly any tabletop game, the spark that pushed us to start the product was Dungeons & Dragons. Our very name, ‘Roll20’ comes from the concept of a ‘critical hit’ as popularized by D&D. For us, D&D represents an evergreen part of our gaming lives, and to be officially working with its creators and caretakers certainly feels like we’ve made a winning roll. -Riley Dutton, Roll20 co-founder.
Lost Mine of Phandelver Available Now!
This partnership begins with the introductory adventure module Lost Mine of Phandelver, which is available today on the Marketplace.
Ideal for a group of 4 to 6 players, “Lost Mine of Phandelver” includes the entire adventure in a digitized format with 5 pre-generated characters, digital game tokens and maps, digital handouts for both Dungeon Masters and players, and the high-powered customization of the Roll20 interface.
More content will follow, including Wizards of the Coast’s latest upcoming adventure - Storm King’s Thunder.
This storyline is already available for pre-order now in the Roll20 Marketplace and will be available on launch date in Roll20 on September 6th, 2016.
A very special thanks and shoutout to moderator emeritus Kristin who contracted with us to make this first official D&D module– her contributions to the platform remain incredibly important and we’re looking forward to working more with her (and others!) in the coming months.
We hope you enjoy this great new way to play D&D and look forward to sharing more as this epic partnership blossoms!
