Gen Con Online – Gen Con Came to Roll20!

Every year, we love Gen Con. We love making new friends and seeing old ones, we love the food (yes, we mean St. Elmo’s again), we love getting to play games and share our passion for the hobby with others, and we love celebrating gaming.

But this year was different. While we’re sad we couldn’t be in Indianapolis, we were honored to virtually host the largest number of attendees Gen Con has ever seen.

At one point this weekend, we had 93,633 people active and playing on Roll20 at the same time. Fully-loaded virtual tables ran games from AGON to Zweihander and everything in between. At Roll20, we believe in the power of games to bring people together, and seeing that power in motion this weekend was truly something special for us.

Beyond hosting lots of games, we had a Burning Daylight actual play, a Burn Bryte discussion with the cast of Burning Daylight and designer James Introcaso, and a Virtual GMing on Roll20 panel with some excellent GMs giving their tips and tricks of online game mastering. You can check out the VODs of those panels now.

Thanks to everyone who joined us during Gen Con. Whether you were playing old favorite games, demoing new ones you’ve never played, watching streams, connecting with other players, or hanging out in the chat during a panel, sincerely, from the bottom of our hearts: Thank you for spending your online Gen Con with us at Roll20.
